Walker heading out
Today my baby (he informs me daily he is not a "baby", but I remind him that he will ALWAYS be my baby) headed out for his 1st day of first grade. I can't believe that he is already 6 years old and off to school again! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful son! Here is a bit about school:
We live literally across from the playground/field of the school. So this year Walker will be able to walk to and from school. Makes him seem even older than he is. He leaves the house about 8:15am and the bell rings for class at 8:30am.
He is doing so well! His teacher, Mrs D. Fox (there are 2 Mrs. Fox at his school) is really nice, very structured but I think that is good for the kids. He knows about 6 kids in his class from kindergarten last year. There are 20 kids in his class and he is making new friends each day.
Walker request to take cold lunch everyday, he HATES hot lunch and I really don't blame him, it is pretty gross. So I pack him a lunch every morning. Turkey, chesse, mayo sandwich, chips a cookie and a juice. I try to switch it up, but Walker is a creature of habit.
He walks home at about 2:30pm and Hunter can't wait to see him!!! So precious, you'd think that he'd been gone for weeks.
I am so excited for this year, I am sure it will be full of challenges but I am really looking forward to it. I am volunteering once a week helping with reading groups, it is such a pleasure to be able to do this. I wasn't able to do much in Walker's classroom last year, mostly due to the fact that I had a newborn. So, I really wanted to make it a priority to be more involved this year. A friend from work comes every Thursday morning and watches my little ones so I can head to Walker's classroom. It is a HUGE blessing and I am so thankful for her!
I'm really looking forward to this school year!! Fall is just a great season!
